I love these guys. Monster Party is a game that, in my opinion shouldn't be judged on the quality of the game itself. That'd be depreciating what kind of game it is.
Everyone knows that NES games had a penchant for being quite strict with what can and can't be included, in terms of thematic content. Religious references (Like Dragon Warrior's multiple references to Catholicism) were taken out. Politically inflamed topics (SPOILER: In Bionic Commando, "D" is actually Hitler) were removed. Smoking and drinking (Soda Popinski from Punchout was actually "Vodka Drunkenski" in Japan) were prohibited. And of course, blood and guts and sex were all remarkable no-no's back in the day.
Now, there are a few games in which, for one reason or another, some of these things were left in. Castlevania II had churches and crosses, Faxanadu had smokers who hung out outside shops, and Golgo 13 even had a few sexual references and intimate scenes. (All three of these are great games, by the way.)
But the one that sticks out more than any other "OOPS! HOW'D THAT GET IN THAR?" NES game is none other than Namco Bandai's (Back then, Namco and Bandai were separate) very own Monster Party. Complete with blood, gore, vague sexual innuendos, and drug abuse by children!

The above monsters are bosses and enemies from the game, as represented in Captain N RESET. We'll start with the monster at the top left, and work counterclockwise from there. (By the way, these are all my names for them, not their official names... because they had no official names.)

Mama Setay
In-Game Quote: "Meow, meow..."
Description: An insane mother cat who murders her own kittens to throw their dead bodies at you. Apparently births more "ammo" every second.

Bloodbath Barbecue
In-Game Quote: "Look out, baby! Here we come!!"
Description: A demon's dinner, cooked in human body fat and dipped in virgin's blood for extra tastiness. Apparently taught how to kill other humans for additional entrees.

Maddragory
In-Game Quote: "Heyyy, baby..."
Description: A fiendish talking plant that was grown by being bathed in blood. Blows rock-hard bubbles from a special gland in its mouth.

Jack of All Freaks
In-Game Quote: "Please don't pick on me!"
Description: A ghost created from the insecurities people often feel. Its own self-esteem seems low, and deals with its depression through inflicting violence on others.

Manson Cooper
In-Game Quote: "Face the music!!"
Description: A punk rocker from the underworld. His latest hits include "Burst My Brain" and "I Run This Freakshow."
(TRIVIA: His guitar is actually Heather Sundown's guitar from Homicide/Suicide: Partners in Crime.)

Psycho Ike
In-Game Quote: none.
Description: An eyeball that is said to see into your mind. Despite that its legs look more like tentacles, they are actually earthworms.

Fido
In-Game Quote: none.
Description: An evil dog with a man's head. Has five rows of teeth (Not shown).

Hapless Bill
In-Game Quote: none.
Description: Woke up from a dream in mid-air and fell to the earth. He's been stuck in the ground ever since. Won't anyone ever help him out?

The Burning Man
In-Game Quote: none.
Description: An arsonist who was sentenced to forever burn for his crimes. His eternal pain makes him cranky.

Huey the Spider
In-Game Quote: "I'm gonna suck all of your blood!"
Description: A bizarre spider that has a decaying face for a body. Has been looking for a girlfriend for thirty years without much luck.
(TRIVIA: Huey's human head form was only used in the beta version of Monster Party. His actual form in the final game was that of an oversized, common spider.)

Prince Moldy
In-Game Quote: "Oh boy! MARK SOUP!"
Description: A crazed pharaoh who cannibalized an entire group of people who attended his birthday party. His lower half was ironically eaten by Royce the Caterpillar.

Even hobbits smoke regularly. :XD: Faxanadu is somewhat Tolkienesque.
